Retail Transaction Enrichment

Envestnet | Yodlee Transaction Data Enrichment (TDE) provides consumers with greater clarity into their financial transactions. Powered by Envestnet | Yodlee's proprietary machine learning engine, TDE augments and refines financial transaction data by adding a simple description, merchant name, category, and geolocation in a contextualized manner based on learnings from millions of transactions.

A core benefit of TDE is the hierarchical detail with which transactions are categorized. The categories come in three tiers that are explained below:

• High-level Categories: The 21 unique high-level categories primarily are used in expense analysis use cases to show spending and income pie charts with a more manageable number of categories. Rename high-level categories and/or redistribute master categories assigned under each.
• Master Categories: The 61 unique master categories can be renamed.
• Detail Categories: The 624 unique detail categories allow for a more granular categorization of transactions. For example, Utilities can be divided into Electric/Gas, Garbage/Sanitary, Water, etc.

The categories fall broadly into four groups: Expense, Income, Transfer, Loan, and Deferred Compensation. Any transaction that is not categorized is marked as Uncategorized. Click the appropriate category group tab to view the list of IDs and categories specific to the group:
