Overview
You have probably reached this page because you are considering writing your own code to onboard your end-users instead of using FastLink. We recommend that all except the largest and most capable customers use FastLink. Here are some of the advantages of FastLink, over coding the onboarding yourself.
- The adoption of Open Banking across geographies has increased the complexity of onboarding end users. FastLink supports this directly.
- FastLink is freely available now and has a simple-to-use interface. FastLink also provides a streamlined migration experience to the user.
- FastLink has a mobile-first design. Its self-service styling tool supports control and customization of the end-user experience in your application.
- User studies and product analytics are employed by the FastLink team to track user behavior, reduce errors, and achieve high conversion rates.
Types of Account Linking
The Yodlee Platform supports two ways to link an online financial account.
Credential-based Account Linking
In this older approach to account linking, end-users (i.e., customers of your application) provide their login credentials for each financial institution (FI) they wish to link.
Yodlee supports provider sites that implement different types of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) approaches; for example, question and answer, captcha, token, or One Time Passwords (OTPs). Note that you must encrypt the login credentials and MFA answers before you pass them back to Yodlee servers.
Open Banking-based Account Linking
In Open Banking-based account linking, users do not provide their login credentials; instead, you will redirect them to the FI application to grant them access to their financial data. Please note that there are many prerequisite steps before integrating the Open Banking flow. For more details, refer to Open Banking Integration.
